Let's Get Sketchy: September Week 4

Here's the September Week 4 Sketch from Let's Get Sketchy

While the sketch only called for one photo, I decided to incorporate a second photo that also serves as the page title!

Sketches In Thyme: Sketch #220

Today I'm sharing a page inspired by Sketch #220 from the Sketches In Thyme blog?
The "circle of circles" on this sketch gave me the perfect opportunity to use a couple of my favorite go-to supplies -- my small scallop circle punch and paper scraps! The background paper for this layout has been in my stash for AGES and I'm so glad I kept it around because it was perfect for this football themed layout!

Until next time...Happy scrapbooking and papercrafting!

Creative Scrappers: Sketch #298

Check out Sketch #298 from Creative Scrappers!
For the circles and stars, I got out my ShapeCutter templates (Fiskars) but I also decided to add some gel pen doodles!

Scrap Our Stash: September Sketch +3 Challenge

Here's the latest Sketch +2 Challenge from the Scrap Our Stash blog:
Here are the items I used from each list:
List 1: Air Balloons
List 2: Buttons
List 3: Chevrons & Canary

For this page, I used a photo of my daughter and her friend walking away from the pool after a swim this summer. When I was young, I thought summers were LONG and lasted FOREVER, but now I know better....Summer seems to float away so quickly!

For the "stitching" at the top and bottom, I used my "Sew Easy Stamper" (We R Memory Keepers). This is SO much easier and faster than actually sewing on the page.

Until next time, happy scrapbooking and papercrafting!

Sketches In Thyme: Sketch #219

Take a look at Sketch #219 from the Sketches In Thyme blog:

For this scrapbook page, I used some "selfies" taken on a recent trip to Chicago with a good friend. We live South of Chicago (if driving, it takes about 2 1/2 to 3 hours). For this day-trip, we took the Amtrak train instead of driving. It was nice to be able to sit on the train and visit rather than worry about driving through heavy highway traffic!

I enjoy including ephemera on my pages as much as possible. On this page, I used a map of Chicago in the background -- it was torn from an old Road Atlas

Until next time...Happy scrapbooking and papercrafting!

Let's Get Sketchy - September Week 2 Sketch

Take a look at the September Week 2 Sketch from Let's Get Sketchy:

For this page, I chose two photos of my daughter and I playing miniature golf. On this particular day, we didn't even bother keeping score. I wanted the title of the page to reflect that we were just playing for fun. So, I decided on the old saying "It's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game." That makes for a very long page title, so I used a combination of small letter stickers and large letter stickers in order to have enough room.

Until next time...Happy scrapbooking and papercrafting!!

Challenge YOUrself #33: A Sewing Challenge

Today I'm sharing a page for Challenge #33 from the Challenge YOUrself blog

Sewing on a scrapbook page is not something I usually do. So, this was quite a challenge. If I'm being honest, I probably wouldn't have tried this if it weren't for this challenge. Even using thicker cardstock, I found you have to be patient and pull the thread very gently. Normally, I scrapbook quickly, so slowing down to sew was a challenge for me -- especially since I messed up several times and had to pull everything out and begin again. UG!! In the end, I was happy with the results but I'm not sure how often I'll be sewing on pages.....Time will tell.

Until next time....Happy scrapbooking and papercrafting!

Let's Get Sketchy - September Week 1

Here's another great sketch from the Let's Get Sketchy blog followed by the page it inspired:
The sketch seemed to call for a paper doily behind the photo, but I decided to "scribble/doodle" on the page background instead. This was quick....and FUN which was just the feeling I wanted to give to this page! To help the picture stand out, I also did some doodles around the photo mat.

Until next time...Happy scrapbooking and papercrafting!

Labor Day Weekend: Cardmaking

This past weekend was Labor Day -- which meant a 3 day weekend! We didn't "over schedule," so we were able to enjoy the extra time with family, grilling out, playing a board game (LIFE), a trip to the pool for one last swim and even a round of miniature golf! I also found some time for cardmaking!

A while back I found a used "Mini Shape Boss" (FISKARS) at the local Mission Mart and I finally put it to use! I also put some of my favorite punches to work -- several flowers and scallop circles, too! Pictures of the beautiful flowers in my Mom's garden were used for a number of cards and I was pleased with the finished results.

Until next time...Happy scrapbooking and papercrafting!

Sketches In Thyme: Sketch #217

Happy Saturday! Today I've been busy with lots of different things including cardmaking (for a peek at the cards, please hop over to @egrupp284 on Instagram)!

I've also enjoyed some time scrapbooking today...here's Sketch #217 from Sketches In Thyme followed by my take.

During our trip to Vegas in July, the girls got to experience their first Vegas Show! Penn & Teller did not disappoint -- they even got to go on stage before the show to check out the tricks first hand! During the show, the entire audience participated in a card trick -- they saved some cards for me to include on this scrapbook page! (I used a "Fastenator" to staple the cards onto the layout.)

Until next time...Happy scrapbooking and papercrafting!
