Sketch #301 from Sketches in Thyme

Hello!

Today, I'm sharing a couple things with you!

First, I recently WON a set of Ken Oliver Color Burst on Facebook! And, I've been having a great time playing with them. Here is a quick peek of some of my efforts created with mist of water and sprinkle of Color Burst!

Do you have any sets of Color Burst? If you do, I'd LOVE to hear about your favorite techniques. I'm interested in finding more ways to use them!

Next, I'm sharing a layout I created with Sketch #301 from Sketches In Thyme:

Until next time, happy scrap booking and paper crafting!!

Sketches In Thyme - October Week 2 Sketch #296

Here's Sketch #296 from Sketches In Thyme:

Sketches can be as versatile as you make them to be! For this particular sketch, I decided to feature 2 photos (rather than just 1).

The palm tree on this page was created using this "old school" template. I have a decent collection of templates (mostly alphabets) but also shapes and themes like this one.

Until next time, happy scrap booking and paper crafting!

Let's Get Sketchy - October 1st Sketch Challenge

Hello! Today I'm sharing a 2 page fall themed layout featuring recent photos taken at our favorite local corn maze. The right-hand page of the layout was inspired by the October 1st Sketch Challenge from Let's Get Sketchy!

A friend recently cleared some things from her stash including this CUTE scarecrow she acquired a number of years ago. I was thrilled to give him a home on this page!

Here is the left-hand page followed by the right-hand page.
I LOVE letter stickers. In this case, I used some "thickers" that my friend also cleared from her stash. There were still plenty of letters left, but I was "short" one letter "R" and had to improvise a little bit. If you look closely, the "r" in "farm" was created by modifying an "n." Be honest, would you have even noticed if I didn't point it out?

Until next time, happy scrap booking and paper crafting!

Stuck?! Sketches - October 1st Sketch Challenge

Today's post features a page created for the October 1st Sketch Challenge from Stuck?! Sketches:

I'm a BIG FAN of paper scraps, paper punches and washi tape!
I used all of them on this page to help with the embellishments.

"It's Five O'clock Somewhere" is a phrase we often say in our family.
So, when a friend gave me this postcard, I knew I wanted to use it on a page!

Until next time, happy scrap booking and paper crafting!

Two Pages, Two Challenges, One Day Trip

Hello Friends and fellow Scrappers and Paper crafters!

Today, I'm sharing a two page spread with pictures from a late July day trip to our state capital, Springfield, Illinois! On this day, we visited the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum as well as Lincoln Tomb. People from all over the world visit the Lincoln Tomb daily. The impact Lincoln has made on generations is truly sobering.

For these pages, I too inspiration from two sketch challenges...one is from Sketches In Thyme and Challenge YOUrself!

This is Sketch #291 from Sketches in Thyme:

Here's Challenge #45 from Challenge YOUrself:

For this 2 page spread, I tried to use papers that would lend a patriotic feel while still keeping the focus on the photos. The navy (basket weave) pattern paper is very old and I'm thrilled to finally use it on these pages. This paper helps draw the pages together visually.

We had beautiful weather for this day trip. Sometimes late July in Illinois can mean very hot temps coupled with HUMID conditions. But, we enjoyed beautiful skies and mild temperatures.

Until next time, happy scrap booking and paper crafting!

Two Pool Pages

Hello Friends! Today, I'm sharing two summer pool pages
using sketches that both called for use of lots of paper scraps.

First, here is the September 1st Sketch from Let's Get Sketchy!

Picking the scraps for this page, was a lot of fun. Do you have a collection of scraps? How do you organize them? Mine are in a big plastic bin right next to my workspace!

And now, here is the September 1st Sketch from Stuck?! Sketches!

For this page, I thought about using strips of Washitape on the background, but ended up using paper scraps. The "Hibiscus" paper scrap (red flowers on white), has been in my stash for ages and ages. It has always been one of my FAVORITE pattern papers and I've been saving the scraps for a long time just waiting for the right time to put it to good use.

Until next time, happy scrap booking and paper crafting!!

Sketches In Thyme - September 1st Sketch #291

Hello Friends!

Thanks for visiting my blog! I'd love to hear your comments about what you enjoy seeing here. And, any suggestions about what you'd like to see or hear about are WELCOMED!

Today, I'm sharing a page created with Sketch #291 from Sketches In Thyme

Image may contain: text

While the sketch called for a single 5x7 photo, I decided to stack two smaller photos together!

For this page, I had fun using some "pool" related items that have been in my stash for years (yes, literally years)! Even the background paper was collected several years ago. There is something FUN and satisfying about using your stash.

Until next time, happy scrap booking and paper crafting!

Jamaica - Vacation Mini Album

Hello Friends!

It's been a busy month which included a family vacation to Jamaica! Today I'm sharing a quick mini-album of the trip. There are many more photos from this trip and you'll be seeing a lot of them in future posts!

This mini-album (made of 5x7 envelopes) was given to me by a friend. By adding tropical/beach stickers and washitape, it made a perfect little vacation album.

Here is the cover of the mini-album followed by a selection of some of the pages. The book holds about 24 photos in total!

There are 6 pull outs (with tabs made with a circle punch) --
each features more photos on the front an back.

My supply of stickers is HUGE, and I loved using some of them for this project! Still plenty of stickers left over for when I make 12x12 layouts of this vacation!

Until next time, happy scrap booking and paper crafting!!
